OF THE RULES OF THE Association
This is a brief summary of the rights,
privileges and responsibilities of
Yealmpton Woodland Burial Association and
its Members
For complete details you should refer to the
current Rules of the Association, which are available upon
request from the Honorary Secretary.
YWB agrees
in consideration of the payment of Membership
subscriptions:

to provide at the appropriate time a burial
plots(s) within Lower Heddon
-
to ensure that the position of every burial
is recorded and that proper records are kept
-
to maintain the burial ground as a wild
flower meadow until burials have taken place
-
to develop and maintain the burial ground for
a period of 50 years from the date of payment or until the
burial ground is full and/or has been passed on to another
appropriate organisation whichever shall be the earlier
-
to accept the Member’s right to assign the
burial plot(s) subject to formal notification
-
to notify members or their personal
representatives when the Annual General Meeting will take
place
-
to allow pedestrian access to
the site
Members agree:
-
to act in accordance with the Rules of the
Association
-
to ensure that everything brought onto the
site is biodegradable and/or made from renewable sources
-
to instruct a funeral director not to use
plastic, embalming fluid or any other chemical or material
harmful to the environment
-
not to bring pets onto the site
-
to provide the contact information for a
person who will act as their next-of-kin or representative.
The nominated representative will not acquire the right to
be buried at Lower Heddon unless they pay the appropriate
Membership subscription
Members understand:
-
that in subscribing for a burial plot, they
do not acquire any ownership or title to that plot
-
that Membership subscription is only for the
right of burial and does not include funeral costs or grave
digging
-
that the permitted form of memorial will be a
native English tree and an inscribed plaque consistent with
our guidelines.

that to maximise their chance of survival,
planting of trees will be in the winter; some trees may need
to be removed by thinning as the woodland develops.

that in the course of our maintenance
programme, some backfilling of burial plots may take place.
Members wishing to be informed of this need to register
their interest in advance.

That information regarding Membership will be
stored and used in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
(Note – Once a person has died this Act no longer applies.)
